Celebrating Breastfeeding in Style this Christmas

Christmas is coming and for many of us this means big family reunions and the chance for relatives to coo over the babies. It also means more occasions to breastfeed in public whilst trying to look vaguely presentable at the same time and that can prove a bit of a challenge when you’ve just had a baby. The jeans and jumpers that might have seen us through the winter so far might just feel a bit too every day for the festivities and why should you have to compromise on your style just because you’re nursing? This is when a Milk & Mummy breastfeeding dress can come to the rescue!

Why are dresses our saviour? A dress is all-in-one style solution which means you don’t have to worry about coordinating tops and bottoms and the built in nursing access means that you can feed easily and discreetly round the dinner table, if you so wish.

So I’ve put together a little Christmas wish-list of Milk & Mummy dresses by Christmas occasion:

The wrap-up-warm Christmas walk
If you want to be toasty warm outside then you can’t beat Libby which is 50% wool and 50% viscose and super soft with it. If, on the other hand, you don’t like wool next to your skin then Sofia dress is just the ticket for everyday wear. It’s made from a lovely thick organic cotton jersey with stretch so it keeps its shape wash after wash.

The Mummies festive lunch
My fellow mum friends and I always try to organise a “mummies Christmas lunch” – much like a normal festive work do albeit a slightly more sober version if we’ve got the babies in tow. The perfect dress has to be Georgia in stunning red geo print. The print is just the right scale to add interest to the dress without being too loud. The fabric is a really light, soft jersey that is really breathable.

Christmas dinner
Hopefully you get out of the cooking this year, and get the chance to put your feet up and look glamorous (oh well we can’t help you with the former but we can with the latter). I couldn’t decide whether to nominate show-stopping lace dress Vida as highly recommended here by Mum in a Nutshell or sophisticated Cindy for this, so I’m putting both down. Vida is ultra-glamourous with its lace sleeves and bodice whilst Cindy is a beautiful dark shade of teal and has a drop waist which is a refreshing change from empire line dresses.

Christmas wedding
More and more people seem to be getting married in winter, and we’re getting increasing demand for winter wedding wear from nursing mums. Our best-selling Josie dress in purple (as reviewed here by Laura from Life with Baby Kicks) or equally the stunning gold version work brilliantly with black opaque tights and a fur bolero.

    1. Thanks Laura! I think they’re so popular because they are simple classics which are really flattering and suit so many different shapes and sizes.

  3. Oh wow, I LOVE Vida! That would be perfect to wear to Christmas eve dinner x

  4. Your outfits are so fab and I look forward to getting my hands on a pair one day. I must confess that I do compromise style a lot … gotto to remember that I don’t have to. 🙂 And I agree with you about the ease of dresses compared to other outfits. (You write so well) 🙂

About Me:

My name is Emma and I have three (!) wonderful babies. The oldest is my daughter Elsa, born in 2011 the second is “Milk & Mummy” my online boutique selling beautiful breastfeeding clothes and launched in 2012, and the youngest is my son Oliver, born in August 2014. All three exhaust me, excite me and make me proud on a daily basis and naturally all vie for my attention! But of course I wouldn't have it any other way.
